The Burger Chronicles! 🍔 Part 1: The Pig In Blanket Festive Burger
Updated: Feb 29, 2020

So the first burger in the burger chronicles is one i made, The pig in blanket burger. With Christmas only a few weeks away I promised myself that i was going to make the most of it and make as much festive food as i can before its quickly over for another year.
I was looking through one of the latest good food books i think it was where i got the inspiration for this dish. In the book there was an article about ways of pimping up your Christmas dinner. It had ideas like parsnips with a Parmesan coating, stir fried sprouts with bacon and many others, but one in particular caught my eye.
PIG IN BLANKET STUFFING BALLS! What they are is sausage meat and sage and onion stuffing mixed with chopped dried cranberries and garlic, wrapped crisscrossed in streaky bacon, so think like a hot cross bun. Originally i wanted to do little ones and make sliders, but I could not find slider buns anywhere. So I decided to commit to it and came up with a full on burger.

I gave it a lot of thought of what could accompany the burger patty in the bun, I had already decided on rocket leaves because i love the peppery tones of rocket. The only thing i struggled with was finding a cheese to not only go with it but keep the festive theme alive. After discussing it, It was decided we would use wensleydale cheese with cranberries.
So that is: The bacon wrapped sausage patty, rocket leaves and wensleydale cheese and a toasted sesame seed bun.
